Texas State Round Rock Campus has been offering higher education in Williamson County since 1996. The Round Rock Campus offers majors for junior- and senior-level undergraduates and graduate students.
Texas State University Round Rock Campus
TXST RRC, previously known as the Round Rock Higher Education Center (RRHEC), was established in 1996. By 2004, the 15 temporary buildings in a lot adjacent to Westwood High School were full to capacity.

In 2003, the Avery family of Round Rock donated 101 acres in northeast Round Rock to allow the former RRHEC to create its own campus.
Construction of the Avery building
Construction began in 2004. The Avery building opened its doors on August 26, 2005. The 125,000-square-foot building was designed to offer instruction and student support in one building.
Ground Breaking for this building addition to the Texas State Round Rock Campus was May 2016. The building dedication was May 24, 2018.
Campus Services Building
The Campus Services Building opened in June 2021 and houses the Facility Services, Parking Services, and UPD offices for the RRC.

The City of Round Rock is home to TXST RRC and complements the city's goal of providing quality higher education opportunities in Round Rock and Central Texas.

TXST RRC partners with the City of Round Rock, the Round Rock Chamber of Commerce, Round Rock ISD and the Round Rock Arts Council to host events that are open to the broader Round Rock community.
